Jonathan Gardner is Vancouver Bound

For Distinguished Toastmaster and District 23 International Speech Contest winner Jonathan Gardner, Toastmasters has been a serendipitous experience. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time. And the right place and right time is coming up quickly when he will represent District 23 in the International Speech contest semi-finals in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada later this month. Fate led him to membership in both the Valencia Voices in Los Lunas and the Midday Madness Toastmasters in Albuquerque. Jonathan originally joined Toastmasters in the summer of 2009. Jef Conn Stays Busy

Lubbock Distinguished Toastmaster Jef Conn is living proof of the old adage “If you want to get something done, give it to a busy person.” A Toastmaster since 2009, Jef has accomplished quite a bit both in and outside of Toastmasters. He’s currently District 23’s District Finance Manager. He’s a member of Lubbock’s Llano Estacado Toastmasters, the Treasurer for the Lubbock Realtors Toastmasters Club, and the Vice President Education for the Lubbock Pro Club. Jef is also the President Elect of the Lubbock Association of Realtors and President of the board for Lubbock’s Family Guidance and Outreach Center. When...

Tim Hairston – From Sack Boy to Sergeant Major

Tim Hairston learned early on the importance of being a good communicator. From the time in his youth when he was a sack boy at a grocery store, to his current career as a Career Counselor to soldiers who are exiting the Army, effective communication has been a vital part of his work. Tim was first introduced to Toastmasters in Memphis, Tennessee, in the early 90s. In 2013 when the military moved him to Fort Bliss in El Paso, he found a Toastmasters club – the Northeast Toastmasters – that met just a few hundred yards from where he...

Carolyn Peeler – Mentoring a Legacy

To paraphrase an old TV commercial – when DTM Carolyn Peeler talks, people listen. As a management consultant at Holloman Air Force Base near Alamogordo, Carolyn dispenses advice that the senior levels do well to listen to. Of course, it’s not just the words she says that demand respect. Her credibility is also due to many years of military service, before retiring and embarking on a career in civil service. Carolyn says she was introduced to Toastmasters in 1980, at a meeting for the Federally Employed Women’s program. She was impressed by how good the speaker was, and “Toastmasters”...
