Pauline Shirley, transformational mentor, dynamic and motivational keynote speaker, engaging trainer and results oriented coach is President of Leaders On Fire. She works with individuals, companies and organizations that want to enhance their performance for increased competence, confidence, productivity and profits.

As the 1994-95 International President of Toastmasters International, Pauline reached her first pinnacle of leadership in the leadership skills building business. The second woman to hold that position in the organization’s history, she believes she has more leadership pinnacles to reach.

As a 34 year veteran of the most humorless of professions, Project Management (sorry, Accountants and Engineers), Merv found himself asking these exact same questions. The ability to provide positive and helpful evaluations can be challenging. Both new and experienced Toastmasters struggle with balancing critique with encouragement. Sometimes it is even difficult to offer a suggestion for improvement. Tim Evans has a developed tool to help Toastmasters at any level to gather and organize information so that you can present an evaluation that will not only motivate the speaker, but will also help you win evaluation awards.

Tim Evans has taken his evaluation skills to three district competitions placing third in one and first in the other two, most recently at the District 23 Fall Conference. His method for evaluating has been used by others to improve their skills and win their own competitions.

“Busting Thru the Road Blocks of Life!”

We all have busy lives and crazy, hectic jobs! Americans are constantly faced with things that are detrimental to our success! The key to success lies not in limiting the barriers that are placed on our path but instead by learning to bust thru the road blocks!

These road blocks can be “monumental” such as being fired, unexpectedly, from a great job or “Trivial” by being asked to speak at your Toastmasters meeting because the schedule speaker didn’t show up. No matter what the roadblock is, it is important to understand your own abilities, assess the situation and move forward with the knowledge that roadblocks are only tests of character and when they are “re-framed” with a new sense of determination… the results can be extraordinary!

Business Meeting Proxy

Either the club president or vice president education of any member club may designate, in writing, any active individual member of the club to act as a proxy for him or her at any district council meeting. In the event one of those officers is not in attendance at the meeting and has not designated, in writing, an active individual member of the club to act as his or her proxy at such meeting, the officer or proxyholder in attendance shall be deemed to hold the proxy of the other and may therefore cast two votes at such meeting. The intent of this provision is to assure that every club will be represented by two votes. No other proxies shall be valid at a district council meeting. A written proxy, to be valid at a district council meeting, must contain all the elements set forth in Toastmasters International policy and must be delivered personally, by mail, by fax, by e-mail, by electronic transmission, or by other reasonable means to the club member who will hold the proxy. The proxy holder must present the proxy in paper form (i.e., print out an e-mail) to the credentials desk. If the proxy does not bear a handwritten signature, it must have the typed name of the club officer(s) giving the proxy or some other indication that the club officer(s) authorized the proxy to be given. A proxy that complies with these requirements shall be treated as valid so long as the credentials desk has no reason to believe that the proxy was not authorized. A proxy holder cannot transfer or assign a proxy to someone else. A valid proxy delivered to the proxy holder is revoked only if the club officer who gave the proxy takes one of the following subsequent actions: he or she destroys the proxy, cancels the proxy in writing, issues another proxy authorized at a later date, or actually attends the district council meeting.
