Walt Disney said, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.” For some being able to speak in front of a group was their ‘impossible.’  For others it may be serving as a leader or going beyond the basics and experiencing more of what Toastmasters International has to offer.  You, as a member, and your club drive me to help you and your clubs excel … maybe even making the impossible, possible! You may be wondering:

  • What are the Lt. Governor Education & Training (LGET) responsibilities?
  • How does the LGET help me or my club?
  • What can I do?

What the LGET is responsible for … Developing & implementing a plan for member achievement (CCs, ACs, CLs, ALs, DTM), club officer training, Division / Area Governor Training and the Distinguished Club Program (DCP).  The 2011-2012 District Governor also tasked me to ensure Area Governor visits occur. How does the LGET help my club?Toastmasters International says

the LGET helps your club by including in the LGET plan, goals and actions for the following items:

  • Train club officers; train district officers (in June for the following year)
  • Teach clubs to conduct effective meetings
  • Promote education and training excellence
  • Plan, organize and direct conferences
  • Direct speech contests

I will focus on enhancing the performance of district clubs so they become or stay a quality club. You will be served and supported by me along with District 23 Education & Training teams. What you can do

  • In your club, practice the Top 10 club standards
  • As an officer, practice the Top 10 club officer standards
  • Assess your clubs with the Moments of Truth
  • Go Beyond the Basics with Speechcraft, Youth Leadership, demo meetings, speaker / evaluator exchange, banner raid, visit another club while traveling, attend a District conference, serve as a District Officer, or your own creative idea
  • Have fun! As Dr. Smedley, founder of Toastmasters International said, “We learn best in moments of enjoyment.”

Contact me if you need any education & training assistance: LGET@District23.org. Use Toastmasters material to grow and learn. Help your club be a quality club. Connect with me at LGET@District23.org.  Together we can make the impossible, possible and help our clubs and members succeed! TK O’Geary
