The highest award presented by Toastmasters International is the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award. Hours, weeks, and even months can be required just to complete one of the steps in this daunting process. But for those Toastmasters with the drive to accomplish it, all the work is worth it to receive the bronze medallion, the admiration of their peers, and the skills gained.

For the 2014-2015 year (July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015), the following District 23 Toastmasters have earned the Distinguished Toastmaster Award:

HPL Project: For my HPL I did a google-bombing campaign- that’s a good activity by the way. After the switch to freetoast host 2.0 a few years ago, my home club and several others had poor web presence. I wanted to increase my home club Kirtland Toastmasters web presence, thus I built links on various other sites that trained the Google search service to find Kirtland Toastmasters’s website and increased the club’s web presence.

HPL Project: Design and Implementation of Donations Recording Process, Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church. The church acquired a new PC with Win8 and new financial software within one month. I took on the task of re-training the recorders and counters on the new hardware and two types of software mentioned above. Many in our church are south of the digital divide. I created a hard-copy manual with many screen grabs and meticulous instructions. The analog part of the process changed too with heightened church security measures instituted in 2013-14, mostly involved with logistics of moving the offering plates from the Sanctuary to the church office, locking down the office 15 minutes after services, and creating a separate hard-copy set of instructions for the counters. While I have finished the primary requirements, I still make myself available every Sunday that I can after church for an hour or two to make sure they don’t get lost; and schedule recorders and counters for each Sunday.
