MariaMoralesThe way that Toastmasters has affected my life, is in a positive way for sure, it has helped me to not be afraid to stand in front of an audience and speak… well to tell you the truth I still have that nervousness feeling, but I have heard that’s normal as long as you don’t show it, right?
It has helped me also when I talk to my husband or my adult children. To tell you the truth it has been a real challenge for me, since I did not attend school here when I was little, I started learning English when I was sixteen years old, and I did not attend a regular school, I am not sure if you are familiar with the El Paso Job Corps Center, but that is how I started my education here in the USA, after that, I attended one year at El Paso Community College, by this time I was seventeen years old, and had completed my training for CNA(nursing assistant) and was able to receive my GED… and after my divorce with three children, I attended IBC, a technical school, I have not had a lot of education, this is why is a challenge for me, but I really enjoy the meetings on the weekly basis, and I have learned a lot.
